Cherohala Skyway DriveDate: Saturday February 23, 2013
Join the Audi Club of Georgia for a taste of Quattro de Mayo as we drive the beautiful Cherohala Skyway Between Tellico Plains, TN and Robbinsville, NC on Saturday, February 23. The Cherohala Skyway drive is always a popular scenic drive during our annual QDM event. This mile-high national scenic byway skirts mountaintops in the Cherokee and Nantahala national forests. Enjoy the scenic winter views and minimal traffic.
We’ll begin our drive Saturday morning in Blue Ridge, GA and travel north through Copper Hill and Ducktown to Tellico Plains. We’ll lunch at the Tellico Grains Bakery and enjoy pizza from their wood-fired brick oven and sample their delicious pastries and cookies. Then onto the Skyway towards Robbinsville, with a stop at the majestic Bald River Falls. Our route will take us through such colorful spots as “Rattlesnake Rock”, “Mud Gap”, “Huckleberry”, and “Obadiah”, climbing to 5390 feet. From Robbinsville, we’ll travel back to Blue Ridge through Andrews and Murphy, NC.
We’ll meet in Blue Ridge at 10:00 (location announced to attendees via email) and our total trip time should take about 6 hours, including stops. We hope that you will plan to join us.
