"To start, a brief introduction of yours truly…
I was born Jeffrey Ahn, and am currently in Ann Arbor, temporarily-removed from my home base in New York. As a recent graduate of the love-to-hate U of Michigan, I wanted to take advantage of a handful of months off before starting the proverbial grind.
Of course there was the Euro Trip idea, that seemingly occurs second-nature to any warm-blooded college grad. But I had already been to Europe – OK only Germany. Regardless, that itch was adequately scratched.
Maybe making an early move back to New York City, start a part-time job? Volunteer at the local animal shelter? Wait, the goal was to take full advantage of my ‘hiatus’…experience those brief spurts of life that forever remain vivid in recollection. Besides, living away from home for a prolonged period means every return, I get the eerie sense that I’m being fattened up for an upcoming harvest; not to mention a plethora of HD channels to act as a catalyst.
Then it hit; through my time exposing myself to all types of media (TV, weekly publications, internet, etc), I sometimes manage to drift off and imagine myself in those certain places that are being written/talked/broadcast about. So, as I’ve grown keen on the various cities all over the U.S., it had never occurred to me before now, to make the connection and travel there.
If you have to know, the number of states I’ve visited (and not driven through) can be counted on my 2 hands, and the furthest west I’ve been (in the States) are the Twin Cities – this was going to be quite an experience. Brainstorm over, time to execute."
